Night and Sports Guards

Night and Sports Guards

If you find yourself dealing with jaw pain  and headaches, especially during the mornings, then you may be clenching or grinding your teeth at night. This is also known as bruxism. The most common signs of bruxism are headaches in the temporal regions, jaw pain, muscle tenderness and fatigue, tooth pain and wear. By wearing a custom night guard, it can not only help protect your teeth but also help to reduce or diminish your symptoms.

If you are interested to learn more about bruxism or a custom night guard to help protect your teeth from the effects of bruxism, contact Rideau Dental on 4 th Street for a consultation.

During Your Visit

In order to diagnose if you are a clencher or grinding, we will examine your teeth carefully to look for signs of wear and discuss any symptoms that you may have been experiencing. If it is determined that you will benefit from a nightguard, our team members will take an impression or scan of your top and lower arches and send it to our dental laboratory where they will fabricate your custom night guard out of high quality materials. Once your night guard is ready, we will invite you back to the office for to ensure that your new custom nightguard fits well and is comfortable. Ideally you should wear your nightguard every night to ensure your teeth and jaw are protected and for maximum results. Our team will provide you with homecare instructions.

About Sports guards

Sports injuries are unpredictable and can be complicated and there’s no way of predicting the area or portion of your mouth that will be impacted. Sports guards offer protection to your upper teeth, reducing your chances of suffering broken teeth, cut lips, and other possible damage that your mouth might suffer at the hands of a blow or a fall while engaging in immersive sports. Contact Rideau Dental on 4 th Street if you are interested in learning more or getting a custom sports guard.
